I knew a man who didn’t like to sing
But boy could he praise
For He had to, you know?
He had to.
Because for him, refusing to praise
Would be like choosing to forget…
His life before Jesus’ reign
When pride was a bully
And lust a dull glee
When anger was a vulture
And people were so annoying
When helping was just business
And care was obliged
When fleshy flesh roared
And insecurity thrived
But, He is So so so thankful now
Because he is oh so different now
He has deep deep peace now
He regards others well now
This man is a man set on praise
Set on heaping glory on the high name
And this man is so stubborn
So stubborn to adore.
He will and you can’t stop Him
He will praise because he has to.
He is resolute, steady in His praise
For in truth he was once
One who loved himself some him
But currently begs to live life within
The fullness of His Jesus
And the richness of His Lord
And in hail and storm
Or famine or hell
He will stand and has stood tall and alive
In adoration.
I knew a man who didn’t like to sing
But boy can he praise
