From a dog chasing its tail

Can be simpletons

And I don’t have to be

The town cynic

To say that

We all know

Tall men get a nod

Short men get a grin

But neither up or down

Get lukewarm spit

The lovable slacker labors

Like a hamster on a wheel

And everyone lines up to agree

There really was writing on the wall

All the while
